Final Fantasy 6
Character Compendium

Of all the seven Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy 6 presently holds the record for the largest cast (14 regular characters and a strong collection of supporting NPCs). This file details the original cast from the FF6 and gives details on what they're up to in the present day setting of the FF6 worldbook. Because most of these characters are to be used as NPCs at all costs, only background information is presented. If you really need stats for them, 60th level is around the area of power that they achieved prior to the destruction of Kefka and his tower.

Note: the compendium, for now, mostly deals with characters from the e-game. As time progresses and the worldbook reaches completion, the compendium will be expanded to important new NPC such as General Joseph Sheridan.

The heroes

Relm Arrowny-

Appearance:
A dainty girl during the chaos following Second war of the magi, Relm has grown up into a beatiful woman. Aside from being 20 years older, Relm is a woman of medium height with a slender build. Her long blonde hair is kept in a neat pony tail save for a few stray locks that make up her bangs. Her taste in clothing borders between the extravagant and the normal but her trademark red beret is almost always a constant.

Background:
Born in Thamasa , Relm was raised by her Grandfather Strago after the death of her mother after her birth and the disappearance of her father. She first became involved with the Returners when Locke, Terra, and Shadow visited Thamasa shortly before the day of Kefka. She immediately took a liking to Shadow's dog, interceptor, when the trio visited Strago's house seeking information from the old man about espers. Later, she trailed strago, Locke, and terra after the group made their way through the western Thamasa mountains and managed to convinced Ultros to run away when the octopus tried to attack the trio.

During the years after kefka's demise, the little girl has grown up into a woman now reaching into her 30's. She has spent most of her time making a living using her talents as an artist to set up an art studio in Jidoor. When not playing mom to her 10 year old dauther Lucy or husband to Malcolm (who will probably given more detail in the future), Relm is often busy painting or teaching new students. She is rather famous in Jidoor, especially among the nobles. Her paintings often fetch large sums of money, especially among her biggest fan- Owzer.

Personality:
The rash little girl bears little resemblance to calm patient women that Relm now is. She is fairly polite in demeanor but has sometimes shown a knack for pushing the right buttons with people when she get angry (critism of her artwork being the most popular way of pissing her off). She often goes out of her way to inspire her students to reach their true potential as artists.

Present Activities:
With the Strago's health begining to deteriorate, Relm has returned to Thamasa City to take care of her grandfather in his last days.

Terra Brandford

Appearance:
A slender young woman in appearance despite being 40 years old, Terra is a woman of nearly unmatched beauty given her half-esper heritage. Her long jade green hair is tied into a ponytail save for a few stray strands that consist of her bangs. Her taste in clothing varies, but she often wears simple clothing.

Background:
Terra was born to the esper Maduin and Madonna on . Being of a mixed racial heritage, she was born with a natural affinity for magic that made her a pivotal character during the second war of the magi. She was often the target of Kefka's attention at several important points during the war and was responsible for opening the sealed gate shortly before the espers attacked Vector City.

During the age of ruin, Terra found her calling when she came across the orphans of Mobliz. The town served as the first test of Kefka's new weapon (the light of Kefka) and was nearly destroyed. During the chaos, all the parents were killed while trying desperately to save their children. Seeing that the children needed protection, she settled down in Mobliz before the returners began to regroup for their attack on Kefka's Tower. Following Kefka's demise, Terra continued her work in restoring Mobliz. In the years of peace, the town has slowly begun to grow with Mobliz's growing port value. After serving as the town's mayor for 10 years, she gave up the position to pursue her studies into the recently (at the time) resurfacing magic.

Personality:
Terra's personality could be best described as a woment of many masks. In general she is polite, protective, and generous to her people but at a momement's notice her emotions can grow to cold and even angry.

Present Activities:
Starting to feel the effects of her extended lifespan, Terra has begun to grow more and more introverted from society. She now lives alone trying to learn what she can about the new form of magic that has reared its head. Her home, a rather generously sized mansion on the outskirts of new mobliz, includes one of the best magic libaries on Aeolus. Terra has been one of the major contributors to Thamasa's annual magic festivals for past five years.

Celes Chere-Cole

Appearance:
Despite being 40 years old, Celes is still an attractive women who has kept her warrior edge even though she has abandoned her sword behind for pans & an apron. She wears her bright blonde hair in a long frenchbraid pony tail and normally can be found wearing a maternalish dress of some kind.

Background:
Like many children born in the decades before the Second war of the magi, Celes was abandoned shortly after she was born. The Imperial scientists, needing a guinea pig for their experiments with magicite energy, chose the healthy baby Celes from the overpopulated orphanages of Vector City. As she grew up, under the constant training of the imperial military, Celes quickly showed an uncanny knack for the forbidden power of magic. With skill and power unmatched by other soldiers and even other magitek imbued prototypes, Celes quickly climbed the ranks of the imperial army until the emperor himself promoted her to the rank of General to replace the fallen General Sarah. Her career as a general lasted several battles until she was ordered to take South Figaro. While the order were to torch the port city, Celes openly refused citing that it was unnecessary to take the lives of the town people. For this she was stripped of her rank and imprisoned in a makeshift jail cell to be executed on the next day.

However, Fate had other plans for the Magitek Knight.

While on his way out of South Figaro to redevous with the other Returners, Celes met Locke Cole for the first time. Despite her stubborness, the two were able to get of the occupied city. The rest, they say, is history. A few months after the defeat of Kefka, the couple decided to get serious about their relationship and a shocked Celes was presented with a rather pricey gem-encrusted wedding ring. Since then, they have two children- Allen (19) and Cynthia (10) and are living happily in Kohlingen. While Mr. Cole is off playing Mayor (so he says), Celes has opted to stay home and raise the kids.

Personality:
During the years of peace, Celes' personality has shifted into that of the outstanding mother. She is patient, thoughtful, and kind to her family and protective of them. Of course, Allen & Cynthia know better than to ever tick off mom. When Celes gets angry, you probably won't have time to regret it.

Present Activities:
Although her kitchen has been repaired since the flare incident destroyed a good portion of it a decade ago, Celes is still worried about the return of magic and what effects it will have on the planet in the long run. She has made some studies of her own and taught some of her more beneficial magic to Cynthia and some of the neighborhood children who have showed a talent in magic despite some grumblings from the townfolk about teaching magic.

Locke Cole

Appearance: While some of his boyish charm has faded, Locke has kept himself in good shape over the past 20 years. Kohlingen's latest mayor sports well trimmed blonde hair and generally prefers dark clothing (black and dark blue particularly). The only major change in Locke's appearance (aside from a touch of grey in his hair and some small wrinkles) is the thin moustache and goatee he now keeps.

Background:
Locke was born to a Kohlingen blacksmith and his wife on X. After his mother his died several years later to illness, Locke spent most of his childhood in the company of his grandmother, Loretta Cole. It was thanks to his grandmother's many stories that he became interested in treasure hunting later on in life. Much of his pre-adolescence was spent exploring the hills just out the boundaries of Kohlingen but as Locke reached adolesence he heard his calling as an adventurer. To this end, he left his hometown behind to become a drifter for several years. Hungry and desperate for money, Locke found himself resorting to pick pocketing and trickery to make money in the port town Jerris (which, for any would-be historians, was one the towns the Gastorians destroyed on their way to South Figaro). After only a month, he soon came to the attention of Jerris' thief guild, the shadows. Much to his suprise, the guild was mostly made up of 'honorable thieves' that were willing to teach the young thief their trade. Over the next two years, Locke developed a knack for stealth, picking locks, and (of course) picking pockets.

Although peace and quiet was what he wanted, Locke has seen little of either one. Upon returning home to Kohlingen, everyone in the town refers to him as the great hero that dealt the death blow to Kefka (for worldbook purposes, Locke laid the final blow on Kefka using the Ultima Weapon). Although it was a smug confidence booster at first, Locke's reputation has brought him nothing but headaches. This climbaxed in 1013. After becoming a victim of old age, Mayor Henry Robins resigned from his duty as Kohlingen's mayor. The townfolk afterward immediately thrust Locke into the position whether he wanted it or not. Now Kohlingen's Mayor, his primary concerns as of the last few years is generating more trade for kohlingen and "putting it on the map" as a major trading power. To this end, Locke has put some of his own funds into financing kohlingen's port a short distance to the north. With its new port and bussiness has also brought with it some undesirable results- namely a growing number of ruffians, theives, and gamblers who are on their way to the Silver dragon (a new city that has grown around the dragon's tail coloseum). The town's guard has swelled in number as the concept of "crime" is slowing being introduced to the sleepy farm town.

Personality: Despite his talents, Locke is the complete opposite that one would expect from one of the world's most talented thieves. In fact, Locke will sometimes becomes agressive and angry over being called a thief. He holds honor to extremes, keeping promises no matter what risk or danger it might bring to himself. On more then one occassion has the treasure hunter gone off risking life and limb in order to protect someone important to him. Honorable, Loyal, and dependant are all word that can be used to describe Locke Cole.

Present Activities: Although keeping Kohlingen under control is his main objective, Locke has quietly been searching for answers as to what happened to Bannon during the day of Kefka. Whenever a new rumor about the great leader of the Returner liberation army pops up, he is almost always the first to figure out that it is a lie. After twenty years of chasing shadows, Locke is starting to slowly lose faith that the Returner's greatest leader survived the destruction of Vector City. He has also given up treasure hunting also, known for saying "it's time to let the next generation of adventurers their chance for glory."
